Position Title: Business Development Officer
Department: Business Development
Reporting To: Business Development Manager
Working Closely With:
- Operations Manager
- HR & Admin Coordinator
- Logistics & Procurement Officer
- Finance Team
- Inspection & Compliance Manager
Purpose of the Role
To identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities while supporting the growth and retention of existing clients, ensuring that our company expands its footprint across LNG, construction, and private sector markets.
The Business Development Officer is responsible for turning opportunities into contracts and supporting the company’s position as a leading security and project services provider in Mozambique.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification (CRITICAL)
- Identify and track opportunities within:
- Mining sector, Oil & Gas sector
- Construction and infrastructure projects
- Private sector clients
- Maintain updated database of:
- Contractors
- Project status (mobilized / upcoming / closed)
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities
2. Client Engagement & Relationship Building
- Establish and maintain relationships with:
- Existing clients
- Potential clients
- Key stakeholders (project managers, site managers, procurement teams)
- Conduct regular client visits and meetings
- Represent the company professionally in all engagements
3. Proposal & Tender Development (HIGH IMPACT)
- Prepare:
- Technical proposals
- Commercial proposals
- Tender submissions
- Coordinate internally with:
- Operations (manpower & deployment plans)
- Finance (pricing and costing)
- HR (resource availability)
- Ensure proposals are:
- Competitive
- Compliant
- Professionally presented
4. Contract Negotiation & Closing
- Support negotiation of:
- Pricing
- Scope of work
- Contract terms
- Follow up on opportunities until closure
- Ensure smooth handover from Business Development to Operations after contract award
5. Account Management Support
- Support management of existing clients
- Identify opportunities for:
- Upselling services
- Expanding scope
- Ensure client satisfaction and retention
6. Pipeline Management & Reporting
- Maintain a clear sales pipeline:
- Leads
- Opportunities
- Active bids
- Closed deals
- Provide regular updates to management on:
- Business development activities
- Opportunities status
- Challenges and risks
7. Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to growth strategy
- Support development of:
- New service offerings
- Market expansion plans
- Work closely with Solutions Manager on technology-driven solutions
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Business Administration
- Marketing
- Or related field
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in:
- Business development
- Sales or account management
- Experience in:
- Private security sector (strong advantage)
- Mining / Oil & Gas / Construction environment (highly desirable)
Key Competencies (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
- Strong communication and persuasion skills (must be fluent in Portuguese & English)
