- Role Summary
The Terminal Manager plays a critical role in maintaining the smooth and efficient operations of the Inland Terminal located in Beira. This role encompasses oversight of all land-side logistics and fourth-party logistics (4PL) solutions, including transportation, warehousing, cargo and container handling, as well as related operational activities.
Tasked with both strategic and operational management, the Terminal Manager is responsible for the container depot, warehousing, cargo handling facility, and agency intermodal functions. The position involves leading a team, supervising daily activities, and consistently pursuing process improvements to boost productivity, operational efficiency, and business growth.
The role demands a highly organized and results-driven individual, dedicated to achieving operational and commercial excellence within a dynamic logistics environment.
As a member of the senior management team, the Terminal Manager contributes to driving the growth and expansion of terminal facilities. This includes managing and coordinating projects related to the expansion of the terminal.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all operational aspects of the container depot and cargo handling facilities and its maintenance.
- Drive the commercial strategy to continuously expand and diversify the customer base and to achieve the volume and revenue targets for the terminal.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse space utilization, stock accuracy, and handling efficiency.
- Ensure all orders are processed accurately and dispatched on time, meeting customer and business requirements.
- Lead, train, and motivate staff, ensuring strong team performance and adherence to operational standards.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs and prepare operational reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and terminal infrastructure.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows and optimize costs.
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, sales, and customer service teams to align operations with business needs.
- Manage budgets, cost control, and vendor relationships related to terminal operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in warehouse, depot, or logistics management, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with proven ability to build and develop teams.
- Solid knowledge of warehouse management systems.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost optimization.
- Solid knowledge of health, safety, and compliance standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
