Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Planning Engineer to lead the planning and scheduling function for a major port construction project in Maputo, Mozambique. This role requires an individual with a strong civil engineering background and proven experience managing complex project timelines and resources in either marine infrastructure or large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, metro systems, or similar.
This is an urgent requirement, and the selected candidate must be ready to relocate and join within 20 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage the master construction schedule using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Develop detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), resource histograms, and progress S-curves.
- Lead planning efforts for all aspects of port construction or high-scale infrastructure projects, including marine piling, quay walls, dredging, jetties, breakwaters, roads, railways, or metro systems.
- Perform Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis and identify schedule risks and mitigation plans.
- Monitor project progress, generate look-ahead schedules, and provide accurate forecasting.
- Manage resource planning, optimization, and coordination across departments and subcontractors.
- Prepare and present progress reports, delay analysis, recovery plans, and extension of time (EOT) claims.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and port authority regulations.
- Supervise and mentor junior planning staff and ensure quality of planning deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- Additional certifications such as Primavera P6, PMP, or equivalent are preferred.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in planning and scheduling either marine infrastructure or large-scale civil projects (e.g., roads, railways, metro, or port construction).
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and planning best practices.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple planning functions under pressure.
- Must be willing to relocate to Maputo, Mozambique and available to join within 20 days
