Position: Nutrition Project Officer, ADA – Sofala

Helen Keller International is implementing a multi-sectoral development project in Nhamatanda and Muanza districts of Sofala Province. The project integrates Climate-Smart Agriculture, Nutrition and Health, Livelihood, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) components to enhance resilience, improve food security, promote gender equality, and foster healthier communities.
We are seeking a Nutrition Project Officer to work under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the project team, contributing to the successful implementation of project goals and activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation, Coordination, and Facilitation
- Collaborate with Provincial/District Health Offices and key partners in project activities.
- Provide technical support on Vitamin A supplementation (VAS), acute malnutrition management, and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) interventions, following national nutrition guidelines.
- Plan and facilitate community outreach activities (e.g., volunteer programs, mother-to-mother support groups, mobile team initiatives).
- Conduct periodic assessments with health partners to measure project performance.
- Promote cross-sectoral collaboration, ensuring effective communication and referrals between IYCF, CMAM, health, food distribution, and WASH programs.
- Develop and implement Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies for nutrition and hygiene awareness.
- Conduct field visits to monitor project implementation.
- Coordinate donor reporting requirements and maintain accurate records.
- Develop success stories and produce technical documentation on project experiences.
- Participate in provincial meetings and clusters related to project activities.
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Represent Helen Keller Intl in health/nutrition coordination meetings and internal training sessions.
- Provide regular updates to project teams and stakeholders.
Logistics & Quality Management
- Support project staff with logistics and liaise with relevant teams to ensure proper resource management.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements and international/national standards.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as the focal point for project-related matters and facilitate coordination among all stakeholders.
- Lead planning sessions and provide guidance to project staff.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nutrition, Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Medicine, Food Security, or a related field.
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in nutrition/health project management.
- Strong numerical, report writing, and administrative skills.
- Expertise in nutrition and primary healthcare principles and management.
- Hands-on experience with CMAM and SBCC programs.
- Understanding of the food security context in Mozambique, particularly in Sofala Province.
Language Skills
- Fluency in Portuguese (required).
- Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in Sofala Province (advantageous).
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in Nhamatanda and Muanza districts.
- Knowledge of local context and familiarity with target districts is an advantage.
