Job Summary

The Head of Change is a senior leadership role responsible for driving transformational initiatives across Absa Bank Mozambique. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position ensures alignment of change programs (business growth, regulatory, and technology projects) with the bank’s strategic objectives. The role leads a team of change and project managers, fostering a high-performance cultureeffective stakeholder engagement, and disciplined project governance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme & Portfolio Management

  • Oversee major change programs, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery.
  • Establish best-in-class project governance, tools, and standards.

2. Change Delivery & Benefits Realization

  • Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business benefits and are embedded into operations.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues across programs.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with senior executives to align change initiatives with business goals.
  • Drive transparent communication to maintain organizational buy-in.

4. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of change managers, project managers, and analysts.
  • Build internal change management capabilities to reduce reliance on external consultants.

5. Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, risk, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams.

6. Vendor & Group Management

  • Manage relationships with vendors and group services to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Review contracts and ensure cost-effective service delivery.

7. Financial & Performance Management

  • Oversee the budget and expenses for the change portfolio.
  • Set and monitor performance objectives for the department.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience

  • Proven leadership in large-scale change management (banking/financial services preferred).
  • Strong background in program/project managementstakeholder engagement, and benefits realization.
  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance in transformational projects.

Skills

  • Strategic thinker with executive-level communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset for business requirements and solution design.
  • Fluent in English (Portuguese is a plus).
