Job Purpose:
To oversee and enhance financial and operational systems for WWF Mozambique, ensuring compliance with WWF International policies, donor requirements, and local regulations. The role supports the Country Director in strategic planning, financial sustainability, and efficient conservation program delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead the costing of the country strategic plan and financial sustainability planning.
- Coordinate annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Review project proposals to ensure compliance with WWF and donor standards.
2. Financial Management & Reporting
- Ensure robust financial systems and qualified staff across all offices.
- Deliver timely financial reports to WWF Mozambique management, ROA, and WWF International.
- Oversee month/quarter/year-end closings, trial balances, and consolidations.
- Manage liquidity, cash flow, and bank reconciliations.
3. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Supervise Finance and Administration staff (Project Financial Analysts, Accountants, IT, Procurement).
- Define staff objectives, work plans, and performance indicators.
- Train non-finance staff on financial compliance and WWF procedures.
4. Compliance, Audits & Controls
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to WWF Field Office Procedures.
- Guarantee compliance with local laws (tax, registrations, MOUs).
- Coordinate internal/external audits and implement recommendations.
5. Procurement, Logistics & IT
- Approve procurements within delegated authority, ensuring donor/WWF compliance.
- Update procurement policies to promote transparency and competition.
- Manage contracts, assets, and premises maintenance.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including 3 years in managerial roles.
- Proven track record in financial planning, donor compliance, and audit management.
- Experience with accounting software (ORACLE) and international organizations.
Skills & Competencies:
- Leadership: Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in multicultural settings.
- Communication: Fluent in English and Portuguese (written and spoken).
- Analytical: Strong financial reporting and strategic planning skills.
- Adaptability: Works well under pressure and undertakes frequent field trips.

Working Relationships:
- Internal: Collaborates with WWF Mozambique offices, regional teams (WWF Eastern & Southern Africa), and WWF International.
- External: Engages with government institutions, donors, and stakeholders as needed.
