Position Details

Purpose

This role provides specialist advice and executes tasks to ensure a robust change control and document management process within operations. The role ensures accurate maintenance of the operation’s blueprint, reflecting approved modifications of plant, equipment, and infrastructure.

Accountabilities

Leadership:

  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring safe work outcomes.
  • Identify and manage risks related to engineering governance and asset management.
  • Ensure implementation of critical controls for material risks.
  • Foster an inclusive and diverse work environment where every team member feels valued.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Operations Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, Engineers, and Maintainers.

Governance and Technical Stewardship:

  • Ensure compliance with defined Engineering processes, business standards, statutory legislation, and industry regulations.
  • Govern and control all technical documentation related to operations.
  • Review and manage changes made to plant operations.
  • Maintain systems that ensure accurate as-built blueprints and change management.
  • Issue and manage current engineering standards, specifications, procedures, and drawings.
  • Validate blueprints from projects and ensure accurate records of modifications.
  • Perform asset condition assessments and defect management.
  • Conduct self-assessments to identify improvement opportunities and ensure corrective actions.
  • Update change control documentation to reflect “as-built” status.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.

Technical/Specialist Skills:

  • Knowledge of Asset Management Principles aligned with ISO 55000 Series Standard.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); CAD software knowledge is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of change management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as SANS, ASME, API, ANSI, and ISO.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience, preferably in the aluminum smelting or heavy industrial sector.
