How You Can Make a Difference

The Child Protection Officer will report to the Child Protection Manager (P4) and provide technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the programming cycle, from planning to delivery of results.

The role involves:

  • Supporting training for military personnel;
  • Developing technical tools related to girls’ and boys’ empowerment;
  • Ensuring safeguarding of children across the programme;
  • Working in a conflict setting.

Key Functions and Accountabilities

  1. Support programme development and planning;
  2. Manage, monitor, and deliver programme results;
  3. Provide technical and operational support to implementation;
  4. Build networks and partnerships;
  5. Promote innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Human Rights, Psychology, Sociology, International Law, or another relevant social science field.

Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection-related areas.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (required).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts;
  • Programme development experience in child protection within a UN agency;
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts;
  • Field experience in a developing country;
  • Knowledge of a local language.
