Organizational Context

FAO is responding to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in northern Mozambique caused by armed conflict, insecurity, and recurring climate disasters. Under the Agricultural Livelihoods Response Plan, FAO supports internally displaced persons (IDPs), host communities, and cyclone-affected populations to resume crop production, livestock rearing, and fisheries, while promoting sustainable management of natural resources and long-term resilience.

Reporting Lines

  • Overall supervision: FAO Representative (FAOR) in Mozambique
  • Direct supervision: Head of Sub Office
  • Technical leadership: Lead Technical Officer (LTO), FAO Sub-Regional Office for Southern Africa (SFS)

Technical Focus

Providing research, technical analysis, and project-related services to support effective implementation of agricultural livelihood activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day implementation of agriculture-related projects;
  • Prepare and manage work plans, procurement plans, and training schedules;
  • Ensure timely technical clearance with regional and HQ teams;
  • Support data collection, stakeholder consultations, and report preparation;
  • Assist in selecting and coordinating with implementing partners (NGOs, institutions);
  • Organize field activities, including trainings, demo plots, input distribution, and monitoring;
  • Ensure quality, sustainability, and accountability of project outputs;
  • Promote gender equality, social inclusion, and protection policies;
  • Coordinate with other projects and organize regular stakeholder meetings;
  • Support monitoring, reporting, documentation of best practices, and knowledge sharing;
  • Contribute to new project proposal development and perform other related tasks.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Agronomy, Crop Production, Sustainable Agriculture, or related fields;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in technical cooperation, agriculture, or food security;
  • Working knowledge of English and Portuguese;
  • Mozambican nationality required.
