Vacancy – Head of HSE (OSBL Infrastructure & Buildings)
Location: Afungi, Mozambique
Industry: Oil and Gas (Operator)
Duration: 12 months contract (renewable)
Rotation: 28 days ON / 28 days OFF
Principal Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the HSE Manager.
- Promote safety commitment within the Client, Contractors, and Subcontractors teams through strong HSE leadership and expertise.
- Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements to maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
- Support and drive the “Zero Incidents” initiative, leading by example and enforcing the company’s Golden Rules and Stop Work Authority.
- Contribute to HSE improvement plans, initiatives, and campaigns across the project.
- Ensure that unsafe acts/conditions are recorded immediately, corrective actions are taken, and preventive measures are applied.
- Guarantee the implementation of HSE roles and responsibilities by all personnel and contractors.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reporting and inspections.
- Conduct inspections of contractor work areas, ensuring adherence to safety plans and contractual obligations.
- Actively attend toolbox talks, pre-starts, and contractor meetings.
- Promptly report and participate in incident investigations as needed.
- Review both company and contractor procedures, ensuring compliance.
- Oversee contractor HSE performance, recommend improvements, and ensure closure of corrective actions.
- Maintain a daily activity log and support HSE communication efforts through toolbox talks and materials.
- Deputize for the HSE Manager when required.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Education: Degree, diploma, or vocational training in Engineering, Construction, or HSE.
- Experience:
- 10 years in HSE roles, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
- Strong background in safety, environmental protection, and project organization for large complex projects.
- Skills:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and safety culture promotion.
- Ability to influence critical safety decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Portuguese or French is an advantage).
