ABOUT THE ROLE
Kwena Offshore is currently recruiting for an experienced Country Contract Manager to join a major international project in Mozambique.
This is a key position responsible for overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of project execution in Mozambique. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Director, Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, and JV partners to ensure contracts are effectively managed and contractual obligations are met throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
● Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks.
● Proactively identify commercial opportunities arising from the contract.
● Support the Project Director and Project Managers with negotiations relating to variations, changes, claims, and contractual matters.
● Develop and implement effective contract management strategies tailored to project requirements.
● Manage client correspondence and contractual documentation.
● Prepare, negotiate, and administer Variations and contractual changes.
● Attend client and project meetings relating to contractual and commercial matters.
● Assist with the negotiation and administration of subcontracts and purchase orders.
● Liaise with Joint Venture (JV) partners to ensure alignment on contractual obligations and commercial matters.
● Provide contractual support during disputes and potential arbitration proceedings, in coordination with legal advisors.
● Maintain accurate contractual records and ensure appropriate documentation is maintained throughout the project.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
● 5-6 years’ relevant experience in contract management.
● Experience within the energy, oil & gas, EPC, or industrial construction sector.
● Proven experience managing large-scale industrial projects with complex contractual structures.
● Strong understanding of contracts, legal agreements, commercial principles, and financial analysis.
● Experience with variations, claims, negotiations, and subcontract administration.
● Strong commercial awareness and contractual risk-management skills.
● Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
● Ability to work effectively with international clients, contractors, subcontractors, and JV partners.
● Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
