Contract Manager

We are currently looking for a Contract Manager to join our team in Mozambique, supporting Bonatti’s operations onsite.

The role of the Contract Manager is to lead and oversee the Contract Management Department defining the guidelines to be applied in performing the Contract Management activities and supervising the activities performed both at the Home Office and at Site to satisfy contractual obligations and the Company’s established targets. The primary goal is to ensure contractual compliance, manage risk, protect the company’s interests, and support project execution in line with corporate objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Define contractual requirements for contract reviews during tendering phases, support the Tender Department in risk evaluation and mitigation, and assist in tender negotiations/finalization.
  • Define Contract Management guidelines tailored to the specific requirements of each contract.
  • Support Project Managers, Branch/Area Managers and Procurement during contract execution, including client correspondence, variation orders, claims negotiations, subcontract and purchase order management.
  • Prepare and negotiate agreements with partners.
  • Manage disputes with Clients, subcontractors and vendors, both amicably and through litigation or arbitration, coordinating external lawyers and consultants when required.
  • Maintain functional responsibility over Contract Administrators and site Quantity Surveyors, including training newly hired Contract Administrators.
  • Monitor contractual performance indicators, identify risks and opportunities, and promote continuous improvement actions.
  • Ensure contract execution aligns with company policies on ethics, compliance and risk management.
  • Provide regular reporting on contractual status, major risks and opportunities across ongoing projects.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior project management on contractual matters, legal exposures and commercial strategies.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Procurement and Technical Departments to ensure contractual consistency across project documentation.
  • Promote contractual awareness throughout the organization through internal training initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with solid knowledge of the energy and construction sectors.Excellent contract management skills coupled with a proven track record results in large complex projects and/or experience in managing engineering contracts.
  • Strong understanding of legal agreements, financial analytics, and commercial negotiations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Rotation: 75 days in Mozambique/15 days leave
