Descrição da Vaga
We are recruiting a Conservation Officer for Chipanje Chetu, Niassa, Mozambique.
Chipanje Chetu is one of southern Africa’s most significant conservation landscapes-6,500 km² of intact miombo woodland, home to elephants, lions, African wild dogs, and critical raptor species.
Conservation here is community-led, data-driven, and long-term.
We’re partnering with Lipilichi Wilderness and the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) to bring a skilled Conservation Officer into this landscape. This is a field-based role, and the work is substantive: establishing biodiversity monitoring frameworks, leading raptor and wildlife surveys, supporting anti-poaching teams with ecological intelligence, and contributing to the science behind the Yambone REDD+ project (2022-2062).
The role is right for you if you have:
-5+ years of conservation field experience in African landscapes
-Proficiency in GIS, camera traps, telemetry, and biodiversity survey methods
-Experience working alongside government bodies and community structures
-Mozambican nationality and professional fluency in both English and Portuguese
This is not a short-term placement. It’s a three-year position based full-time in Chipanje Chetu, embedded within a team of community conservation inspectors, wildlife monitors, and local partners who have been protecting this landscape for years.
Apply by March 31, 2026: send your CV and cover letter to tenders@yambone.com with the subject line “Oficial de Conservação em Chipanje Chetu.”
