At Eni, we are looking for a Safety Coordinator within Eni Rovuma Basin in Maputo, Mozambique. You will be responsible for providing specialist HSE guidance and advice across all aspects of company activities, including contractor management, risk assessment, incident investigation and reporting, KPI reporting, and ensuring HSE compliance with company policies, international standards and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
HSE Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with national oil and gas safety legislation, industry regulations and company HSE standards.
- Ensure adherence to the Process Safety Management System (PSM).
- Stay updated on changes in safety legislation, standards and industry best practices.
- Undertake safety pre-qualification and tender evaluation, identifying any measures the company needs to implement to assist the selected contractor.
Operational Safety
- Issue and implement an Employee Health and Safety Handbook, templates for risk assessments, and other HSE guidelines/forms for use throughout the company.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments across offshore platforms, pipelines and processing facilities.
- Monitor and analyse safety performance data, prepare reports and recommend improvements.
- Provide expert safety advice during SIMOPS (simultaneous operations), lifting operations, confined space entry, hot work activities and other critical operations.
- Assist with maintenance of the Company HSE-IMS: update documentation to reflect changing operational circumstances, develop new procedures and implement operating instructions.
- Review contractor HSE cases, interface documents, safety requirements, HSE plans and emergency response plans.
- Actively participate in operational risk assessments and conduct bow-tie verification exercises.
Incident & Emergency Management
- Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring root cause analyses and implementation of mitigation and preventive measures.
- Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and exercises for oil and gas scenarios.
- Ensure lessons learned are shared and corrective actions implemented across operations.
Training & Competency
- Deliver HSE inductions and competency-based training for employees and contractors.
- Coach supervisors and the workforce on safe systems of work, permit-to-work (PTW), and hazard identification.
- Mentor junior safety staff and promote knowledge transfer.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Track HSE KPIs (e.g., TRIR, LTIFR) and provide performance reports to management and the HSE reporting sub-unit.
- Identify trends and recommend proactive measures to reduce incidents.
- Contribute to annual HSE improvement plans.
- Comply with national Safety, Health, and Environmental laws and company HSE policies, aiming to achieve operational objectives.
- Implement the company’s HSE Management System and ensure safe, effective operations with proper environmental care.
- Apply relevant HSE procedures during all activities, maintaining accurate records and analysis of operational data.
- Ensure staff are adequately trained in maintenance and HSE aspects, and coordinate with the Field HSE Superintendent/Coordinator.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related discipline.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent professional safety qualification).
- Extensive experience in HSE, with relevant experience in a senior advisory role.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and ISO standards.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations in oil and gas projects.
- Experience working with international operators and contractors.

- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and ISO standards.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations in oil and gas projects.
- Experience working with international operators and contractors.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Offshore drilling and production safety
- Permit-to-work systems
- Process safety and major accident hazard management
- ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS standards
- Ability to work under pressure in remote and offshore environments.
